Tom scores first Welsh international try in Irish win
Tom Baker-Jones earned the distinction of scoring the first Welsh international try in the win over Ireland at Lansdowne Road, Dublin, on Saturday, 28 January, 1882. It was Wales’ second international outing, and their first against the Irish. Wales won by 2 goals and 2 tries to nil. Baker-Jones, a Newport solicitor, ran in from a scrum some 26 minutes into the game.
