Welsh tennis wins Wimbledon prize
Welsh tennis is already guaranteed at least a little success at this year’s Wimbledon championship.
Pembrokeshire will be named the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) council of the year for its efforts in developing a future Tim Henman or Andy Murray.
The LTA said the county had made great strides in improving facilities and coaching for school children.
Jan Cunningham also picks up volunteer of the year for her work with juniors at Dinas Powys, Vale of Glamorgan.
The LTA stages its annual awards to coincide with Wimbledon.
Pembrokeshire Council has appointed a tennis development manager to support existing clubs and train coaches.
Programmes have been started in Fishguard, Pembroke and Tenby and the club at Haverfordwest has been strengthened.
