Parisian debut for Loosemore

Welsh tennis No 1 Sarah Loosemore made her French Open debut in the first round of the Ladies Singles in Paris on 28 May, 1990. She was beaten 6-2, 6-4 by American Jennifer Santrock. She also lost in the first round in 1991. She also played in the Australian Open and Wimbledon for four years.

Mike Davies

Swansea born, Mike had a memorable 60 year career in tennis, the first Welshman to play in a Wimbledon final, GB’s highest ranking player for a period of time and responsible for changing the face of tennis with innovative ideas such as the yellow tennis ball.

Audrey Bates

One of the most talented all-round athletes ever produced by Wales, Audrey Bates played at the highest level in four different sports and was also invited to play hockey for Wales.
