Tiger tees off at Royal Porthcawl

Tiger Woods made his first appearance on a golf course in Wales on 9 September, 1995, when he played for the USA in the Walker Cup competition at Royal Porthcawl. Gary Wolstenholme beat Tiger in the singles on the first day and he also lost in the foursomes. The Great Britain & Ireland team, captained by Welshman Clive Brown, won the match 14-10 to take the title for only the fourth time since its inception in 1922.
