Heartbreak at Ninian Park

Wales were held to a 1-1 draw by Yugoslavia on 22 May, 1976, in the quarter-finals of the UEFA European Championship. It meant Terry Yorath’s side were knocked out of the competition having lost the first leg in Zagreb 2-0. Wales were the only Home Nation to reach the last eight (Wales, Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union, West Germany, Spain, Holland, Belgium and Yugoslavia). Ian Evans scored the Welsh goal.
