Glamorgan crowned county champions

On Tuesday, 24 August, 1948, at Dean Park, Bournemouth, Glamorgan won the County Championship title for the first time by beating Hampshire. Roll of Honour inductee Johnny Clay played a key role in the victory over by an innings and 115 runs as he took nine wickets in the match. Clay had played in Glamorgan’s inaugural First Class fixture in 1921.
