Dai Rees captains Ryder Cup team

On 5 November, 1955, Dai Rees became the first Welsh golfer to captain the Ryder Cup team. The two day event was staged at the Thunderbird Country Club, Rancho Mirage, California. It was Rees’ sixth Ryder Cup competition. The USA won 8-4 to secure a seventh successive Ryder Cup triumph. Two years later at Lindrick Golf Club, Rees gained his revenge when he led GB & Ireland to a first victory since 1933.
