Ian Woosnam notched 51 tournament wins in an amazing golfing career. His maiden win came at the Swiss Open in 1982 and was the first of 30 on the European and PGA Tours. The highlight was unquestionably his 1991 Masters victory at Augusta National. For 50 weeks in 1991 and 1992 he was number one in the world rankings.

He played in eight consecutive Ryder Cup matches between 1983 and 1997 and in 2006 he captained the European team to an 18½ – 9½ victory over the American team at the K Club in Ireland. He won the European Tour Order of Merit as the leading money winner and was twice named European Player of the Year. In 2006 he was appointed an OBE in recognition of his contribution to golf and he entered the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2017.
