An exceptional showjumper who ruled the world from the saddle, Cardiff-born David Broome was World Champion as an amateur and professional (1970) and was a three time European Champion ((1961, 67, 69). He also helped Great Britain win the world team title in 1978. Six times he won the King George V Cup and he won two Olympic bronze medals from the five Games he attended. He was appointed CBE and became President of British Showjumping.
