Helen Weston
Helen Weston made her senior Wales debut at the age of 17 against New Zealand and went on to play a record 111 times for her country over a 20 year period. The Cwmbran product played as a Goal Keeper and played at a record equalling four World Cup tournaments with Wales – 1983, 1991, 1995 and 1999. She was the Welsh captain in Christchurch in 1999 and led her country on many occasions. She retired in 2002 after failing to make the Welsh Commonwealth Games team at the age of 37. She was one of three Gwent inductees in 2007, along with Joe Calzaghe and Arthur Gould. Weston said: “I am delighted and to be the first netball player to be recognised is a big honour.”
